Police Arrest Two Drug Peddlers in Sopore, Seize 52 Grams of Heroin

In a significant operation, Jammu and Kashmir Police have apprehended two drug peddlers in Sopore, located in the north of the region.
On August 3, 2024, the police team from the Sopore Police Station, led by the Station House Officer (SHO) and In-Charge of the Police Post (IC PP) Warpora, conducted a checkpoint at Brath Road near Butchek Mode. This operation was supervised by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sopore.
During the checkpoint, the police intercepted two suspects, Tabish Nazir Bhat, a resident of Dangerpora Sopore, and Javaid Ahmad Tantray, a resident of Khunbal Handwara.
Upon conducting a thorough search, officers discovered 52 grams of heroin in their possession. The suspects were immediately taken into custody and transported to the police station for further processing.
The police have registered a case under FIR No. 187/2024 at the Sopore Police Station. This case includes relevant sections of the law pertaining to drug offenses.
Authorities have initiated a comprehensive investigation to uncover further details and potentially identify any additional individuals involved in the drug trade.
The successful apprehension of these suspects and the seizure of heroin represent a crucial step in the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
The police continue to enhance their vigilance and operations to address the challenges posed by drug-related crimes in Jammu and Kashmir.
