Police Arrest Two Drug Peddlers in Kulgam, Recover Contraband Substances

Continuing its efforts to combat drug trafficking, Kulgam police have arrested two individuals in separate incidents and recovered a significant amount of contraband substances. The arrests were made at checkpoints in Khudwani and Gulab Bagh as part of an ongoing campaign to rid the region of narcotics.
In the first incident, a checkpoint was established by the Qaimoh police at Khudwani Bypass, where officers intercepted a suspicious individual attempting to flee. The person, identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Kawaki Bazar, was apprehended.
Upon searching him, the police recovered 750 grams of cannabis-like substance from his possession. Sheikh has been taken into custody, and a case has been registered.
In a separate operation, another police team led by IC PP JT at a checkpoint in Gulab Bagh stopped a suspect carrying a nylon bag. The individual was identified as Nizamuddin Kunshee, a resident of Gulab Bagh.
During the search, police recovered 3 kilograms of poppy straw, 3.5 grams of brown sugar, a digital weighing machine, and Rs 29,750 in cash, believed to be proceeds from narcotic sales. Kunshee was immediately arrested and remains in custody as investigations continue.
Both suspects are currently being held at their respective police stations. The police have registered cases under relevant laws and have launched further investigations.
Authorities are calling on the public to support their efforts by reporting any drug-related activities or suspicious behavior.
