Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a slew of projects in Madhya Pradesh, with a total investment exceeding Rs 12,000 crore ($1.3 billion). These multi-sector initiatives represent a significant commitment to enhancing infrastructure and improving living conditions in the state.
Honoring Rani Durgavati: A Monument to Courage
Among the noteworthy projects is the ‘Veerangana Rani Durgavati Smarak aur Udyaan,’ a memorial and garden dedicated to the 16th-century queen, Rani Durgavati. This project, with an investment of Rs 100 crore, sprawls across 21 acres and features a 52-foot-high bronze statue of the iconic queen. The site will house a museum that highlights the history and culture of the Gond people, focusing on Rani Durgavati’s valor and the region’s rich heritage, art, cuisine, and lifestyle.
Revolutionizing Housing and Infrastructure
The Light House Project, under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, aims to provide quality homes to over 1,000 families. With an expenditure of approximately Rs 128 crore, the project employs innovative construction technology to ensure the swift creation of well-equipped homes.
Prime Minister Modi also dedicated several road and rail infrastructure projects, with a combined investment of over Rs 4,800 crore. These developments will enhance connectivity, bolster road infrastructure, and stimulate trade and tourism in the region. Rail projects, exceeding Rs 1,850 crore, including the doubling of rail lines connecting Katni-Vijaysota and Marwasgram-Singrauli, were also inaugurated, further bolstering transportation links.
Ensuring Water Supply and Sustainable Energy
Several Jal Jeevan Mission projects, worth over Rs 2,350 crore, will provide clean drinking water to approximately 1,575 villages through individual household tap connections. The Prime Minister also dedicated a Jal Jeevan Mission project in Seoni district, valued at over Rs 100 crore.
Additionally, the launch of the Vijaipur-Auraiya-Phulpur Gas Pipeline Project and the foundation stone laying for the Nagpur-Jabalpur section of the Mumbai-Nagpur-Jharsuguda Pipeline Project represent significant strides toward cleaner and more affordable energy. With an investment exceeding Rs 2,850 crore, these gas pipeline projects will offer clean, affordable natural gas to industries and households, aligning with efforts to reduce environmental emissions.
