PM Modi Flies in LCA Tejas Aircraft, Emphasizing India’s Indigenous Capabilities
Prime Minister Narendra Modi undertook a sortie in the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas, highlighting India’s growing prowess in indigenous defense manufacturing.
During his visit to Bengaluru, the Prime Minister reviewed the manufacturing facility for Tejas jets at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), including the twin-seater trainer version of the LCA Tejas.
LCA Tejas: A Symbol of Indigenous Defense Technology
The twin-seater trainer LCA Tejas, delivered to the Indian Air Force (IAF) last month, represents a significant milestone in India’s defense technology. The aircraft was handed over to the IAF in Bengaluru on October 4, in a ceremony attended by Union Minister Ajay Bhatt and Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari.
The Indian Air Force currently has two new trainer version twin-seater aircraft, along with a prototype used for VIP flights. The IAF has also placed orders for 83 new LCAs, now named ‘LCA Mark 1A’, marking a significant expansion of its indigenous fighter fleet.
Prime Minister’s Experience Flying in Tejas
Prime Minister Modi shared his enriching experience of flying in the Tejas fighter on social media. He emphasized the sortie’s impact on his confidence in India’s indigenous capabilities and expressed pride and optimism about the nation’s potential.
Significance of the Sortie
The Prime Minister’s sortie in the Tejas aircraft underlines India’s commitment to bolstering its defense capabilities through indigenous development. It also demonstrates the country’s ability to produce advanced technology combat aircraft.
