PM Inaugurates Critical Care Blocks in JK
In a significant step towards enhancing healthcare infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually laid the foundation stone for 13 Critical Care Blocks at district hospitals across Jammu and Kashmir. The groundbreaking ceremony, which took place from Rajkot, Gujarat, marks a crucial milestone for the region’s healthcare development.

Not only did the Prime Minister initiate the construction of Critical Care Blocks, but he also dedicated six mobile food safety labs, with three allocated to each division of Jammu and Kashmir. This dual commitment reflects a comprehensive approach to healthcare, encompassing both critical care facilities and measures to ensure food safety.

Expressing his gratitude, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha acknowledged Prime Minister Modi’s efforts in fortifying the Critical Health Care and Emergency Response System in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The Lt Governor emphasized the significance of these initiatives, stating that they would provide crucial and standardized health facilities for all citizens.
PM Inaugurates Critical Care Blocks:Crucial Healthcare Projects Under PM-ABHIM and ECRP-II
The projects, valued at Rs 207.75 crore under the Prime Minister-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), will include 100-bedded Critical Care Blocks at GMC Jammu and District Hospital Budgam. Additionally, there will be a 50-bedded Critical Care Block at each of the following locations: GMC Baramulla, GMC Rajouri, GMC Kathua, SKIMS Bemina, and District Hospital Kulgam. Simultaneously, under the COVID-19 Emergency Response and Health System Preparedness Package Phase-II (ECRP-II), 50-bedded Critical Care Blocks will be constructed at District Hospitals Pulwama, Kupwara, Reasi, Shopian, Poonch, and PHC Sonamarg, Ganderbal, amounting to Rs 142.5 crore.
This dual initiative underlines the commitment of the government to bolster healthcare infrastructure in the region, ensuring a robust emergency response and elevating the overall health system.
