Pakistan’s Azan’s Century, Zeeshan’s Four-wicket Haul Lead to 8-Wicket Victory over India in U-19 Asia Cup Clash
In a thrilling encounter at the Asian Cricket Council Under-19s Asia Cup, Azan Awais’s sensational century and Mohammad Zeeshan’s superb bowling display guided Pakistan U-19s to an impressive eight-wicket victory over India U-19s.
Azan Awais’s remarkable batting performance left the Indian bowlers struggling to contain the Pakistani onslaught during the chase of 260 runs. Despite Murugan Abhishek’s two wickets, the rest of India’s bowlers struggled to make an impact, failing to claim any further wickets.
Initially restricting their opponents to a competitive total of 259/9 in 50 overs, the Indian team got off to a promising start in the powerplay, accumulating 42 runs for the loss of one wicket.
However, Pakistan, too, lost an early wicket but managed to put up 48 runs on the board.
The partnership between Azan and Shahzaib Khan, amassing 110 runs, shifted the momentum decisively in Pakistan’s favor. Both batsmen aggressively took on the bowlers, maintaining an assertive approach and finding boundaries crucial to their chase.
Despite Abhishek dismissing Shahzaib for 63, the relentless Azan remained composed, ensuring Pakistan’s victory.
Azan’s unbeaten 128-run partnership with skipper Saad Baig proved to be the defining factor, steering Pakistan to a commanding win. Earlier, India’s Uday Saharan, Adarsh Singh, and Sachin Dhas fought valiantly, contributing significant scores to propel their team to 259/9.
However, Mohammad Zeeshan’s four-wicket haul, supported by Amir Hassan and Ubaid Shah’s contributions, curtailed India’s scoring opportunities and prevented them from surpassing the 300-run mark.
The victory marked a stellar performance by the Pakistan U-19 team, showcasing their batting prowess and bowling resilience, securing a convincing win over their arch-rivals in the ACC Under-19s Asia Cup clash.
