Pakistan: Religious Scholar Muhammad Ali Mirza Arrested by Punjab Police
JHELUM: The Punjab Police on Monday took into custody well-known Islamic scholar, preacher, and YouTuber Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza from his hometown of Jhelum.
As per official sources, Mirza was detained under Section III of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance and later shifted to jail. Authorities said the step followed “a series of complaints and grievances” that had been filed against him.
This is not the first time the scholar has faced arrest. Back in May 2020, Mirza was booked on allegations of delivering hate speech, though he was released within a few days. In 2023, another case was lodged against him under Section 295C of the Pakistan Penal Code, pertaining to blasphemy charges.
