SC’s decision hailed by opposition; BJP cautious, asserts Kejriwal not “innocent”.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s release from Tihar Jail after spending over 50 days behind bars has sparked varied reactions. While opposition parties hailed the Supreme Court’s decision granting him interim bail, the BJP remained cautious, asserting that Kejriwal has not been proven “innocent” and will return to jail after June 1.
Kejriwal, greeted warmly by supporters and family, thanked the SC for his release and pledged to continue the fight against “dictatorship.” His bail conditions include refraining from visiting the Chief Minister’s office or the Delhi Secretariat.
AAP leaders expressed gratitude to the SC for the bail, calling it a victory for democracy. However, BJP leaders cautioned that the interim bail didn’t imply innocence, emphasizing that Kejriwal would return to jail after June 1.
The political fallout of Kejriwal’s release is evident, with various leaders across party lines weighing in on the development. While opposition leaders hailed the SC’s decision as a win for democracy, BJP leaders remained skeptical, highlighting the legal nuances of the case.
