OnePlus Signals Potential Exit from Indian TV Market
OnePlus, under BBK Electronics, appears to be discontinuing its television and monitor production and sales in India, as evidenced by the removal of TV and Displays categories from its official Indian website. This move suggests a strategic shift for the Chinese brand, which ventured into the television segment in 2019 with the OnePlus TV Q1 series. Despite introducing various smart TV models over the years, OnePlus is yet to provide an official statement regarding its withdrawal from the TV and Display business in India.
Silent Removal of TV and Displays Sections
The absence of TV and Displays sections on OnePlus’ Indian website, now leading to a 404 error page, underscores the potential departure from the Indian TV market. While OnePlus hasn’t formally declared its exit from the smart TV sector in India, inquiries have been made to the brand for clarification.
Smartphone Market Dominance Amid TV Market Speculation
OnePlus, renowned in India’s smartphone arena, achieved significant growth in Q2 2023, according to Counterpoint Research. Despite this, the company’s recent product focus seems centered on smartphones, with the introduction of OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 12R in January 2024, along with the upcoming launch of the OnePlus Nord CE 4 on April 1. Meanwhile, Realme, another BBK electronics subsidiary, is also reportedly halting its smart TV production and sales in India, signaling a potential shift in the electronics market landscape.
