NIA Detains Suspect in Rameshwaram Cafe Blast Case
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) detains a suspect named Shabbir from Ballary, Karnataka, in connection with the Rameshwaram Cafe blast case in Bengaluru.
The NIA’s Bengaluru unit is interrogating the suspect based on gathered inputs regarding his travel history. However, it remains uncertain whether he is the same individual captured on CCTV footage.
Bounty Announcement and Appeal for Information
The NIA recently announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for information leading to the arrest of the bomber involved in the Cafe blast. Emphasizing the confidentiality of informants, the agency released a picture of the suspect and urged the public to come forward with any relevant information.
Handover to NIA and Ongoing Probe
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) transferred the case to the NIA on March 3, following which the agency initiated its investigation. The blast, occurring on March 1 at the Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru’s Whitefield area, resulted in several injuries. The police, previously handling the case, had registered it under stringent laws and identified a suspect through CCTV footage.
