
National Chairman NFJM Dr. Tahir Rufayee Visits Kathua, Meets Cloudburst Victims & Interacts with Local Journalists
Kathua, August 23: Dr. Tahir Rufayee, Hon’ble National Chairman of the National Foundation for Journalism & Media (NFJM), today undertook a visit to Kathua to review the situation arising out of the recent cloudburst tragedy and to stand in solidarity with the affected families.
Dr. Rufayee first visited the shelter homes at Ghati and Manhasaa Mohalla where he met displaced families and assessed their conditions. He then proceeded to Ward No. 7, ITI Kathua, to interact with residents and listen to their concerns. Later, the NFJM Chairman visited Government Medical College (GMC) Kathua to meet the victims undergoing treatment, inquiring about their health and assuring them of NFJM’s full support.
During his tour, Dr. Rufayee emphasized that NFJM is committed to amplifying the voices of disaster-hit families and will take up their concerns at the appropriate forums.
Later in the evening, Dr. Rufayee also met a delegation of local journalists at Hotel Aakash, Kathua, where issues concerning media, rehabilitation coverage, and community support were discussed in detail.
He was accompanied by Arfaz Ahmed Daing (Senior General Secretary J&K), Sansar Singh (National Secretary), Vaneet Kumar (Editor-in-Chief Morning Brief Daily Newspaper & State Vice President J&K UT), Onkar Singh (Provincial General Secretary), Sanjay Sharma (National Co-ordinator), Sumanpreet Singh (National Financial Advisor & State Secretary), Amit Panday (Businessman & Executive Editor News 39), Ishant Sharma (Provincial President), Muktaz Mohd, Sajid (News Sehar India) and Sehran Khan.
The visit highlighted NFJM’s unwavering commitment to standing with affected communities and strengthening the role of media in disaster response and relief.
