Mobile Data Suspended in Pulwama District for Security
In a move to uphold public safety, mobile data services have been temporarily discontinued in specific regions of Pulwama district. This preventative measure was put into effect at 7 pm on November 5 and is set to last until November 8. The suspension encompasses 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G services in the Wampora and Hunipora areas.
Precaution Against Misuse by Anti-National Elements
The government’s decision comes in the wake of concerns that mobile data could be exploited by anti-national elements to disrupt public order. The order, issued by the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Kashmir Zone, directs Telecom Service Providers and Internet Service Providers to enforce the suspension within a 3-kilometer radius of the specified coordinates in the district.
Confirmation of the Order for Public Safety
The Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary) Home has confirmed the necessity of this directive, which was originally issued without the prior approval of the Competent Authority. The confirmation is in line with ensuring the sovereignty, integrity of India, and the security of the state. This action is grounded in the powers granted by the Temporary Suspension of Telecom Services (Public Emergency or Public Safety) Rules, 2017.
