Mehbooba-Mufti-Calls for Transparency in Arrests and Advocates for Public Rights
In a recent address, Mehbooba Mufti, the president of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), expressed deep concern over the perilous situation faced by the public, with their lives, property, and privacy at risk due to the oppressive actions of various government agencies. Speaking to party members in Noorabad Kulgam, she called upon the LG administration to provide a detailed account of the numerous individuals who had been arrested without adhering to established protocols.
Mufti highlighted the indiscriminate nature of these arrests, noting that even women were not exempt. She referenced a specific incident involving an elderly lady who was allegedly implicated in money laundering. Emphasizing the lack of transparency surrounding the fate of those detained by agencies such as NIA, CBI, SIA, and SIU, Mufti urged authorities to disclose information about whether these individuals were alive or deceased, their current locations, and the courts that had remanded them to custody.

Despite numerous arrests, Mufti pointed out the glaring absence of convictions from the court, asserting that many had been apprehended on fabricated charges. She called for a thorough review of the administration’s policies in light of these circumstances.Mufti underscored the importance of moral strength and political will, asserting that these qualities are more crucial than wielding power. Reflecting on her past alliance with the BJP, she clarified that it was not for the pursuit of power but to thwart certain designs.
According to Mufti, the BJP withdrew support from her government when they realized her commitment to the agenda of peace and development, diverging from their expectations.Addressing the audience, Mufti urged the public to join efforts in reclaiming their rights, emphasizing that her advocacy was not driven by a quest for votes or positions.
She stated that positions were inconsequential compared to the steadfast commitment to advocating for the people’s agenda. Mufti affirmed her unwavering stance, declaring that she would never compromise on speaking up for the agenda and the people, regardless of the challenges that may arise.
The convention also saw the presence of senior leaders such as Sartaj Madani, Waheed Parra, Manzoor Zargar, Gulzar Dar, Sheikh Mohuddin, Arshid Baba, and others.
