Massive Drug-Disposal Operation in Anantnag: Committee Destroys Seized Substances

In adherence to the directive of the Honorable Session Court, Anantnag, a committee composed of police officers from District Anantnag, Crime Branch (ANTF Kashmir), revenue officers, and a judicial officer took action to eradicate a substantial quantity of confiscated drugs and psychotropic substances on December 26, 2023, in accordance with section 52A of the NDPS Act.

The contraband substances from 65 cases spanning Police Stations of District Anantnag, ANTF Kashmir, Qazigund, and Qaimoh Kulgam were disposed of. The seized items comprised 1.605 kilograms of Charas, 925.660 kilograms of Poppy Straw, 1659 bottles of Codeine, 40 grams of Heroin, 770 grams of Ghanja, Fuki weighing 29.610 kilograms, Capsules + Tablets numbering 248, Bhung Bhosa totaling 164.810 kilograms + 03 Parsals, and Charas Power amounting to 21.499 kilograms. The disposal took place at Kashmir Health Care System, IGC Lassipora, in the presence of a constituted committee led by the Chief Judicial Magistrate Anantnag, SP (OPS) Anantnag, Dy. SP ANTF Kashmir, Executive Magistrate Anantnag, and other police officers from the district.

During the operation, local residents engaged with the officers and expressed gratitude for their diligence, professionalism, and dedication in working towards a drug-free society.
