Celebrating Indian Constitution Day
Indian Constitution Day, celebrated every year on November 26, marks the formal adoption of the Constitution by the Constituent Assembly in 1949, which came into effect on January 26, 1950. This year’s celebration was marked by the unveiling of Dr. BR Ambedkar’s statue at the Supreme Court of India by President Droupadi Murmu. The day is a reminder of the country’s journey towards establishing a robust democratic framework and the values enshrined in the Constitution.
Political Parties Acknowledge the Significance of the Day
Various political parties, including the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress, took to social media to extend their wishes on Constitution Day. The BJP’s post conveyed best wishes to all citizens, while the Congress post highlighted the significance of the Constitution as the “life and soul of our democracy.” The Congress urged people to pledge to uphold the Constitution’s values, especially in the face of challenges. Constitution Day, also known as Samvidhan Divas or National Law Day, serves as an opportunity for reflection and reaffirmation of the principles that govern the nation.
