According to sources, train services are set to commence on the entire 184-km-long stretch from Baramulla to Sangaldan as part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link Project (USBRL) starting February 20th.
A top official from the Railway department revealed plans to introduce a new Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) and Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) train specifically for the Baramulla to Sangaldan sections. The USBRL project, a critical railway infrastructure initiative, aims to enhance connectivity and accessibility in the region. The official stated that work on the Sangaldan to Katra segment in the Reasi district is also nearing completion. Currently, the project stands at an impressive 96% completion rate, with the final 4% being actively addressed.
Challenges Overcome: Northern Railways Progresses Against Odds
Despite encountering several challenges, the Northern Railways has exhibited unwavering commitment and determination to overcome obstacles in the completion of the ambitious 272-km Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link project. The railway official emphasized that the project is in its final stages, and construction activities are in full swing to meet deadlines. The concerted efforts of the Northern Railways are particularly noteworthy as they strive to accomplish the remaining tasks before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

This signifies a significant leap forward in enhancing connectivity and infrastructure in the region.
Future Prospects: Transformative Impact on Kashmir’s Connectivity
