Major Drug Bust in North Kashmir: Three Arrested with Significant Haul
In a significant operation, three individuals were apprehended in Sopore, North Kashmir, along with a substantial consignment of drugs.
Sub Divisional Police Officer Sopore, Dr Raies Ahmed Mir, reported that a checkpoint established at a railway crossing on January 11 led to the interception of a truck, where 3600 capsules of Spasmoproxivon plus were discovered in a bag.
The driver, identified as Rameez Wali Rather, revealed his involvement and disclosed passing the consignment to Shahnawaz Ahmed Shah of Dangerpora Sopore.
A swift police action led to the arrest of Shah with 744 Spasmoproxivon plus capsules. Shah, in turn, disclosed supplying a portion to Shabir Ahmed of Kralgund Handwara, who was apprehended in Dangerpora village with 792 capsules.
A case under FIR No 04/2024 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act was registered, and investigations are ongoing.
The police emphasized their commitment to combating drug-related crimes through a comprehensive approach involving strict law enforcement measures and community engagement.
