Maharashtra Resident Falls Victim to ₹18 Lakh Investment Scam, Case Registered
A man is alleged to have defrauded a 47-year-old homemaker of ₹18.56 lakh by promising high returns on mutual fund investments, as reported by a Thane police official on Sunday. Over the period from March 2021 to March 2023, the victim entrusted her money based on the advice of the accused. However, he failed to fulfill his promise of providing her with interest, dividends, or other payments that were due.
According to officials at the MFC police station, the accused also engaged in inappropriate behavior towards the woman when she approached him to return the money. A case has been registered, encompassing charges of cheating and other related offenses. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the case.
