Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has ordered the termination of seven teachers appointed at the Delhi Tamil Education Association in 2022, allegedly on the basis of forged documents. In addition, he has approved a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the matter. The decision was made following a recommendation by the Delhi government’s Directorate of Vigilance, which found evidence of “collusion” between the Education Department and the school management in the said appointments.

Committee to Scrutinize Recruitment Records

LG Saxena has also called for a thorough examination of recruitment records at government-aided schools over the past decade. To facilitate this process, he has established a committee tasked with studying the appointment procedures in these schools. The committee will be chaired by the additional chief secretary of the general administration department and will include members from the finance and education departments, with the director of education serving as the convener.

Fake Experience Certificates

The termination of the seven Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) and Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) positions was approved after the vigilance department’s recommendation for a CBI investigation. The appointments at the Delhi government-aided school were allegedly facilitated through the submission of forged documents, including fake experience certificates. These forged documents played a pivotal role in securing the positions, as each year of experience awarded additional marks to candidates.

School Management’s Negligence

The Education Department’s terms and conditions required the school management to verify all certificates submitted by selected candidates. This verification process included obtaining appointment letters, details of payments made, bank information, and attendance records. However, the school management allegedly failed to fulfill these criteria, leading to the appointments based on questionable documentation.

Continued CBI Investigation

The CBI is already conducting a criminal investigation into a similar case involving Vedic Sanskrit Senior Secondary School, Khera Garhi, a government-aided school in Delhi, where appointments were reportedly made using alleged “fake” documents.

The actions taken by LG Saxena reflect the Delhi government’s commitment to ensuring the integrity of its educational institutions and upholding standards of transparency and accountability in the recruitment process.
