LG Manoj Sinha Inaugurates ₹40 Cr Projects in Budgam

Budgam, Aug 16: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated and laid the foundation for various developmental projects worth over ₹40 crore in Budgam district today. Additionally, he e-inaugurated 40 more projects across the region, totaling ₹101.66 crore, with a focus on urban development and infrastructure.

Among the key projects, the newly constructed accommodation for Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) members at Sheikhpora, costing ₹6.41 crore, was inaugurated. This facility aims to provide secure housing for PRI members, enhancing local governance.

Multiple Panchayat Ghars were also inaugurated in the district, including those at Pohru-A, Chattergam-B, and other locations to aid community decision-making.

The event also saw the inauguration of community toilet units at the Charar-i-Sharief shrine, catering to the needs of devotees. A new receiving station at Aripanthan, built at ₹6.34 crore, was unveiled to address power supply issues in the area.

Additionally, water supply schemes were launched in Khasipora Chowdribagh, Kremshore-Dreygam, and other areas to improve access to clean water.

In Budgam, foundation stones were laid for several projects, including a community hall at Transit Accommodation Sheikhpora, the transformation of Sheikh-ul-Alam Hall into a skill development center, and a Truss Girder Bridge at Takiyabal Kanigund. This bridge, valued at ₹13.65 crore under RIDF XXIX, will serve as a crucial route to Toshamaidan tourist destination.

The Lt Governor also launched various urban development projects across Jammu and Kashmir, including road-sweeping machines, green space development, and the upgradation of footpaths.

Notable projects include the Junction Improvement initiative in Jammu City Phase-I and the enhancement of Shehr-e-Khaas market façades.

Additionally, the J&K Lake Conservation and Management Authority’s initiatives included connecting houseboats in Dal and Nigeen Lakes to sewage treatment plants and introducing new lake-cleaning machinery.

The LG emphasized that these efforts are part of a comprehensive strategy to boost infrastructure, improve living conditions, and support sustainable development in the region.
