Kwikset Unveils Aura Reach Smart Lock With Matter Support and Hands-Free Entry for Modern Homes
Kwikset has expanded its smart home lineup with the launch of Aura Reach, a next-generation connected deadbolt designed for easy do-it-yourself installation and broad smart home compatibility. The new smart lock blends Matter and Bluetooth connectivity, aiming to simplify secure access while fitting seamlessly into today’s connected households.
Announced on January 5, 2026, from Lake Forest, California, Aura Reach is built to work across major Matter-enabled platforms, including Amazon Alexa, Google Home and Apple Home. It supports both iPhone and Android devices, giving homeowners flexibility regardless of their preferred ecosystem.
Kwikset says the lock focuses on convenience without sacrificing security. A proximity sensor wakes the LED-backlit keypad as users approach, while hands-free auto-unlock uses Bluetooth and geofencing to open the door automatically when an authorized user arrives. For those who prefer manual control, the keypad offers illuminated, touch-based access.

Setup is intentionally simple. The Kwikset app walks users through installation and smart home onboarding step by step, requiring nothing more than a screwdriver. Once installed, the app allows homeowners to create and manage up to 250 unique access codes, view entry logs, and receive alerts for failed or suspicious access attempts.

“Aura Reach represents the next step in our Matter journey,” said Jeff Sandoval, director of electronics marketing at Kwikset. “We’ve paired Matter’s simplicity with guided education and onboarding to make smart locks approachable for everyday users.”
The lock’s dual connectivity enables local Bluetooth control or Matter-based integration over Thread, allowing it to communicate reliably with other smart devices. Users can trigger automations based on lock activity, such as turning on lights when the door unlocks or receiving notifications when someone arrives home.
On the security side, Aura Reach includes Kwikset’s patented SmartKey Security technology, which lets homeowners rekey the lock in seconds while protecting against common break-in methods. An optional Signal Range Boost accessory can be added to extend Matter network coverage and improve performance across larger homes.
Aura Reach is built around an ANSI/BHMA Grade 2 certified deadbolt and is offered in Satin Nickel and Matte Black finishes. Both finishes come with a lifetime warranty, reflecting Kwikset’s long-standing focus on durability and mechanical reliability.
Priced at $189, Aura Reach is expected to hit major retailers later this winter. It joins Kwikset’s growing range of Matter-enabled smart locks, which already includes the Halo Select and Halo Select Plus models.
With Aura Reach, Kwikset is clearly positioning itself at the intersection of traditional lock engineering and modern smart home technology—aiming to make connected security simpler, more reliable and more accessible for homeowners.
