Kishtwar Students Embark on Inspirational Educational Tour to ISRO
Kishtwar, 17-07-2024 : The ten eager students from Kishtwar District of Jammu and Kashmir, UT,have set out on an educational tour of ISRO’s Space Application Centre in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on Monday.
Accompanied by two escort teachers and mentors from different schools, the group embarked on their journey on July 15th and is set to return on July 19th, 2024.
The send-off was marked by enthusiasm and support from the community.
DIET Principal Kishtwar, Shri Prahlad Bhagat, along with other senior officers, bid farewell to the students as they were transported in light vehicles from Kishtwar to Jammu.
From there, they traveled by train to Delhi and then flew to Ahmedabad, marking a unique and maiden experience for many of these students. Proud parents and members of the district administration were present to witness this momentous occasion.
This educational trip was organized as part of an ‘exposure visit outside the state’ initiative by the district administration of Kishtwar under the guidance of Deputy Commisioner Kishtwar Dr. Devansh Yadav, IAS.
The collaboration with DIET Kishtwar and ISRO aimed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world application, providing the students with an invaluable experience.
“For all of us, including our mentors, this will be a truly wonderful experience. It was the first time we ever sat on a train and an airplane. We learned a lot of things at ISRO, and it was an experience worth remembering for life,” shared the students.
One student remarked, “We crossed several states to reach our destination, which was really amazing. We also visited the Science City Centre, fulfilling a childhood dream, and explored Gujarat.
Touring the country’s largest space museum under the Gujarat Science City Centre was an incredible experience.”
The district administration of Kishtwar has been proactive in promoting scientific temper among students, particularly those from rural areas.
A Space Lab has been opened in the Boys Higher Secondary School and HSS Girls Kishtwar , where models of various ISRO programs are displayed. This initiative aims to pique students’ interest in space, science, and other fascinating subjects.
The administration plans to open more space labs across the district to further boost scientific learning.
It is pertinent to mention that since the joining of Dr. Devansh Yadav, IAS, as Deputy Commissioner of Kishtwar, the educational landscape of the district has seen significant improvements.
Over 2,000 out-of-school children, mostly from Gujjar and Bakerwal communities, have been mainstreamed into the education system.
Initiatives like the ISRO visit, exposure tours, and the provision of modern-day libraries and facilities have been commendable efforts under his leadership.
This tour to ISRO has not only enriched the students’ knowledge but has also inspired them to dream big and pursue careers in science and technology.
The district administration, in collaboration with education Department , continues to strive towards providing such life-changing opportunities to the youth of Kishtwar.
