    Srinagar, Aug 22 (KB): Indian National Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and prominent Congress leader Rahul Gandhi have arrived in Srinagar for a crucial two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir.

    Their arrival this evening at Srinagar Airport marks the beginning of their high-profile trip, which aims to bolster the party’s influence in the region.

    Upon arrival, Kharge and Gandhi were escorted to Hotel Lalit, where it is anticipated that Rahul Gandhi will stay overnight. The security arrangements at the hotel have been heightened to ensure their safety throughout the visit.

    During their stay, Kharge and Gandhi will engage with party workers and local leaders, focusing on fortifying Congress’s position in the Union Territory ahead of the forthcoming assembly elections.

    This visit comes as a strategic effort by the Congress party to enhance its foothold in Jammu and Kashmir.

    Sources close to the matter have indicated that Rahul Gandhi is slated to hold important discussions with key opposition figures.

    Among those expected to meet him are Dr. Farooq Abdullah, the leader of the National Conference, and Mehbooba Mufti, the head of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

    The primary agenda of these meetings is to explore the possibility of forming a pre-poll alliance in preparation for the upcoming elections.
