In a significant blow to the cross-border narcotics network, authorities from the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Punjab Police have apprehended a drug trafficker in Mullanpur, Dakha. The joint operation resulted in the seizure of a substantial amount, totaling Rs 4.94 crore in cash, and the discovery of 38 counterfeit vehicle number plates.
The Director General of Police (DGP) for Punjab, using the social media platform X, conveyed the following information: “The apprehended individual is a crucial figure in the recent 30-kilogram heroin recovery case in Jammu. Ongoing investigations aim to establish both the backward and forward linkages in this intricate network. It is worth noting that a firearm was also found in the possession of the arrested individual.
“This development comes on the heels of an earlier incident on October 1, when two narcotics smugglers were arrested in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir. They were found in possession of a substantial quantity of heroin, valued at several crores of rupees, within a vehicle heading towards Punjab. The interception occurred on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway.
