
Kathua Emerges Victorious in UT-Level AAG Boys Wrestling Competition
Kathua Secures Top Spot in Wrestling Tournament
In a thrilling display of wrestling prowess, Kathua district clinched the winner’s trophy at the UT-level All Age Group (AAG) boys wrestling competition held at Doda’s Indoor Stadium. This event witnessed enthusiastic participation, with over 200 players hailing from 9 districts showcasing their skills.
Warm Hospitality and Camaraderie
Participants from far-flung districts lauded the warm and welcoming hospitality extended to them during the tournament. They were effusive in their praise for the people of Doda, describing their hosts as kind and cooperative. Many expressed a desire to explore the scenic hill spots of Doda, such as Dal Draman, Nagni, and Lal Draman, although time constraints prevented them from doing so. Some young participants vowed to return with their families to experience the natural beauty of Doda.
Promoting Sports and Healthy Lifestyles
The primary objective of such sports competitions is to encourage children to actively participate in sports. Apart from promoting physical fitness, these events serve as a deterrent against engaging in unhealthy habits like drug use and gambling. Under the guidance of senior officials from the Youth Services and Sports Department, there is a concerted effort to foster a culture of sports participation.
Impressive Wrestling Results
The wrestling competition yielded commendable results, showcasing the talent and dedication of the participants. In the U/17 category, medalists in various weight categories demonstrated their skills and determination, earning gold, silver, and bronze medals.
U/19 Wrestling Competition Highlights
The U/19 wrestling competition also saw spirited performances, with participants vying for top honors in different weight categories. The winners displayed remarkable skill and determination.

The districts’ performance was assessed based on the overall medal tally, with Kathua emerging as the frontrunner, securing 9 gold, 7 silver, and 3 bronze medals. Jammu secured the second position with 8 gold, 7 silver, and 5 bronze medals, while the host district, Doda, secured the third position with 5 gold, 5 silver, and 2 bronze medals.
Celebrating Victories
The competition concluded with a celebration of the winners, escort officials, spectators, and all duty officials involved in the successful organization of the event. A swearing-in ceremony took place, where merit certificates and medals were conferred upon the deserving winners and participants in the Indoor Sports Stadium at Doda.
