A Kashmiri fraudster, identified as Sayed Ishaan Bukhari @ Dr. Ishaan Bukhari (37), has been apprehended by the Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch in collaboration with Dharmasala Police. The arrest was made in Jajpur, following a joint operation conducted by the STF and local police officials at Neulpur under Dharmshala Police station.

Sayed Ishaan Bukhari, hailing from Kupwara in Jammu & Kashmir, currently resides in Neulapur under Dharamshala Police station of Jajpur district. The arrest was carried out on charges of impersonation, cheating, forgery, and alleged links with anti-national elements, invoking sections 419/420/465/467/468/471/120(B) IPC r/w Sec. 66 C/66 D of IT Act, 2000.

During the raid, the STF seized numerous incriminating materials, including over 100 documents. The accused had been posing as a Neuro Specialist Doctor, an Army Doctor, an official in the Prime Minister’s office, and a close associate of high-ranking NIA officials, as per STF reports.

Among the confiscated items were forged documents, such as a medical degree certificate issued by Cornell University of the USA, Canadian Health Services Institute, and Christian Medical College Vellore. Additionally, blank signed documents, affidavits, bonds, various identity cards, ATM cards, blank cheques, Aadhar cards, and visiting cards were recovered from his possession.Investigations revealed that Bukhari had married at least 6-7 women from different parts of India, including Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Odisha.

He was actively engaged on various websites and apps, maintaining romantic relationships with several women while impersonating a doctor with international degrees.

The STF, during its probe, uncovered Bukhari’s connections with suspicious individuals in Kerala and some Pakistani nationals. Furthermore, he is wanted by Kashmir Police in connection with a case of cheating and forgery, with a pending Non-Bailable Warrant against him. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
