Aim for Global Excellence in Education
Lieutenant Governor Sinha’s vision extended to India as a whole, urging the nation to increase its share in the multi-trillion dollar global education sector. He emphasized that enhancing education in India should be a top priority and called for bold actions to improve rankings and compete globally. Sinha acknowledged the evolving landscape of higher education institutions worldwide, necessitating strategic planning aligned with NEP 2020 to stay relevant.
Challenges and Opportunities in International Education
Sinha shed light on the significant growth in the demand for higher education, emphasizing that India had contributed 74% of all new higher education institutions globally in the last decade. He noted that despite India’s vast higher education infrastructure and facilities, none of its institutions had made it to the top 10 educational hubs globally due to a lack of promotion. The Lieutenant Governor also called for a shift in the trend of students going abroad to study and encouraged a more transformational approach to attract international students to India.
In this Round Table Conference organized by the Association of Indian Universities, the discussion spanned three days and revolved around topics like University Governance, Collaboration, and Promoting Innovation in the Academic World. The event was attended by newly appointed Vice Chancellors from various Indian universities, education experts, and government officials.
In conclusion, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s call to enhance the global reputation of Indian education through enrolling international students serves as a beacon of hope for both Jammu and Kashmir and the entire nation. His forward-thinking vision aims to position India as a global education leader, ensuring that the country’s institutions are prepared to adapt to the evolving needs of students and the rapidly changing world of education.
