In a recent press conference organized by the Jammu Kashmir Medical Employees Federation, the organization’s President, Sushil Sudan, who also serves as a member of the Pharmacy Council of India, brought to light critical issues faced by healthcare employees. The event took place on a Sunday and saw a significant turnout from media representatives and concerned individuals.
Promotion List Delay Sparks Concern
Sushil Sudan highlighted a pressing concern regarding the delay in publishing the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meeting’s list for employee promotions. Despite the DPC meeting taking place three months ago, there has been no release of the promotion list to date. Sudan urged the relevant authorities to promptly address this matter and release the promotion list without further delay.

Challenges Faced by Female Multipurpose Health Workers
Another longstanding issue that Sudan addressed is the delayed payment of salaries for female multipurpose health workers. Despite repeated representations and months of unresolved grievances, the problem persists. Sudan passionately appealed to the government to take swift and permanent action to resolve this pressing issue, recognizing its impact on the affected workers.
Special Considerations for Employee Relocation
Sushil Sudan emphasized the recent data collection efforts by the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) for relocating employees who have completed five years of service at a specific location. He urged the government to consider the unique circumstances of terminally ill employees and those nearing superannuation when making such reassignments, ensuring that their needs are met effectively.
Timely Disbursement of General Provident Fund (GP Fund)Sudan stressed the importance of the General Provident Fund (GP Fund) as a vital savings avenue for employees. He called for the timely disbursement of the final GP Fund payment within 15 days after an employee’s superannuation, ensuring that employees receive their deserved benefits without undue delay.
Appointment of a Permanent Health Department Director
The JKMEF President also strongly advocated for the appointment of a permanent director within the Health Department. He pointed out that an incharge director had proven ineffective in efficiently managing the department, leading to both public dissatisfaction and discontent among employees.
The press conference was attended by prominent individuals such as Parfulat Singh, Bharat Bhushan Bhagat, Bahadur Singh, Sunil Chauhan, Mukhtiar Kohli, Madan Sharma, Daleep Choudhary, Surjeet Rajan, Kulwant Singh, Ajay Sharma, and many others. Their presence highlighted the collective concern and urgency surrounding the issues raised by the Jammu Kashmir Medical Employees Federation.
