JK Police Hosts Cyber Awareness Day in Doda to Combat Online Fraud

The Cyber Crime Investigation Unit (CCIU) of Doda, under the J&K Police, observed Cyber Jaagrookta Diwas on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. The event, held at Govt Girls Higher Secondary School in Doda, aimed to raise awareness about cyber crimes among the general public.
The program saw significant participation from students, as well as teaching and non-teaching staff of the institution.
During the event, the Incharge of CCIU Doda delivered informative lectures to the participants. The talks focused on the growing trends of cyber crimes, particularly the tactics fraudsters use to deceive people and steal their hard-earned money.
The attendees were educated on how to use the cyber crime portal and were warned about various types of online frauds, such as credit card scams, OTP (One-Time Password) frauds, QR code scams, online gaming frauds, and fraudulent loan assurances.
The lectures also emphasized the importance of securing social media accounts. Participants were cautioned to be vigilant while interacting with unknown individuals on platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Twitter.
The session highlighted the need for general public awareness to prevent falling victim to such scams.
This initiative by J&K Police is part of their ongoing efforts to spread awareness about cyber-related crimes and online frauds.
By educating the public, they aim to reduce the number of people who fall prey to the tricks of fraudsters and cheaters.
