Jharkhand Chief Minister Launches State Widow Remarriage Promotion Scheme
Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren officially launches the State Widow Remarriage Promotion Scheme today, providing Rs 2 lakh to widows who choose to remarry.
The initiative aims to integrate widows into society, enabling them to lead dignified lives. According to Manoj Kumar, Secretary of the Women and Children and Social Welfare Department, any widow can apply for the scheme within one year of her marriage, receiving Rs 2 lakhs.
The move is geared towards enhancing productivity and fostering the contribution of widows to society and the nation. This initiative precedes the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the country and aligns with the newly formed Champai Soren government’s focus on social welfare.
The budget for the financial year 2024-25, presented earlier by the Jharkhand government, amounted to Rs 1.28 lakh crore, reflecting a 10% increase from the previous fiscal year.
The fiscal deficit is estimated at 2.02%, aligning with the government’s goal of limiting it to 3.0% of GSDP in the financial year 2024-25.
