Jammu and Kashmir Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers Forum Welcomes Education Minister’s Stand on Teacher Eligibility Test
Banihal, Feb 25: The Jammu and Kashmir Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers Forum (JKRETTF) Chairman Farooq Ahmed Tantray has welcomed the recent statement of Education Minister Sakina Itoo regarding the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) order issued by the Education Department.
According to the statement, authorities have been directed to prepare a comprehensive plan for TET implementation. She emphasized that there is no immediate urgency, and the government will first observe the stance of other states before taking a final decision on the matter.
In a statement issued by the Forum’s Chief Spokesperson M.A. Wani, Chairman Tantray appreciated the minister’s approach and expressed hope that the government will safeguard the interests of in-service teachers.
Tantray stated that teachers’ capabilities can be enhanced through capsule courses, refresher trainings, and professional development programmes, rather than compelling experienced educators to appear for the TET after decades of service.
He termed it an injustice to force thousands of long-serving teachers to undergo the eligibility test at this stage of their careers and urged the government to take a compassionate view of the issue.
The JKRETTF chairman further appealed to the government to file a review petition before the Honourable Supreme Court of India to seek relief for the teaching community and ensure justice for experienced educators.
The Forum expressed optimism that the government will adopt a fair and practical approach to protect the dignity and rights of teachers across Jammu and Kashmir.
