
Jammu and Kashmir Mountaineer Chosen as India’s Representative for the 19th Asian Games
Shivani Charak, a prominent sport climber hailing from Jammu and Kashmir, has earned the prestigious opportunity to represent India at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. Her selection by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation in New Delhi marks a significant achievement in her climbing career.
Shivani Charak is part of a distinguished group of climbers, consisting of three men and four women from India, who will be participating in the disciplines of Lead Climbing, Speed Climbing, and Bouldering at the Asian Games. The Indian climbing contingent includes Bharat Pereira from Karnataka, Aman Verma from Tata Adventure Academy in Jamshedpur, Viraj from the Army, Shivpreet from Punjab, Saniya Farooque Sheikh from Maharashtra, and Anisha Verma from Tata Adventure Academy in Jamshedpur. Leading this formidable team is coach Bibhas Roy from Tata Adventure Sports Academy.
AAP enters LAHDC Elections for the First Time
In terms of event specialization, Shivani Charak and Saniya Sheikh are set to compete in both Lead Climbing and Bouldering. Meanwhile, Shiv Preet and Anisha Verma will exclusively focus on Speed Climbing.
Currently, five members of the Indian climbing team, namely Aman Verma, Viraj, Shiv Preet, Anisha Verma, and Saniya Sheikh, have already arrived in Hangzhou, China, accompanied by their coach. Bharat Pereira and Shivani Charak, along with the Chairman of the National Sport Climbing Committee, Kirti Pais, are scheduled to depart for Hangzhou tomorrow.
The Sport Climbing Competitions at the 19th Asian Games are slated to commence on the 3rd of October. This eagerly anticipated event promises to showcase the immense talent and dedication of India’s climbing athletes on the international stage.
