Jairam Ramesh Accuses Centre of Breaking Promise to Farmers
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh accused the Centre of reneging on its promise to farmers by not granting legal status to the minimum support price based on the ‘Swaminathan formula.’ Despite recent Bharat Ratna awards to PV Narasimha Rao, Chaudhary Charan Singh, and MS Swaminathan, Ramesh emphasized that the government must fulfill its commitment to farmers, citing the sacrifices made during the protests. He reiterated the demand for legal guarantees for minimum support prices, emphasizing that farmers remain prepared to march to Delhi if their concerns are not addressed.
