J-K High Court Adjourns PSA Detention Case of Mehraj Malik to December 27

The supporters of MLA Mehraj Malik were expecting a breakthrough regarding the PSA detention case, but have to wait for the December 27, as the Jammu Kashmir High court adjourns the case and set a new date for the hearing.

Today, jammu kashmir High court heard the matter where the legal council led by Senior Advocate Rahul Pant, Zulkernain Choudhary, and others argued the case.

As reports reached VoM, the council led by Senior advocate Rahul Pant argued firstly followed by the arguments of Muzaffar Iqbal Khan, and conclusive arguments of renowned Advocate Sheikh Shakeel. The council of Mehraj Malik has concluded their arguments.

As the government is being represented by Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi and Additional Advocate General Monika Kohli, now the govt will argue on the case.

While addressing the media, Advocate Appu Singh – the legal advisor stated that no one can fix the timeframe for the case, as the matter is subjudius and it depends on the legal framework, not the fencies. She stated that mostly, people ask why the case is getting lengthy and stretching afterwards, it should be understood that the grounds of detention and the DDRs needs to be addressed bit-by-bit so to the honourable judge, and that takes time.

Whereas, senior Advocate Zulkernain Choudhary also addresses the media stating that the good news is likely on the corner, as we concluded the final arguments, stretching now for the arguments of respondents.

One one side, Jammu Kashmir is also going to observe the holidays, and whereas the case is also seeking attention of supporters.

Time would surely side, would the case be decided before vacations or it would take more time.

Pertinent to mention here, MLA Mehraj Malik was arrested after being booked under the Public Safety Act and is currently lodged in Kathua Jail.

Mehraj has said that he misses people of his constituency and in a recent viral video could be seen smiling and posing with a well-defining poze of a thumbs-up.
