Key Highlights:

- The strikes followed Houthi attacks involving drones and a ballistic missile.
- Israel accused Iran of backing the Houthi attacks and called for global sanctions.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) conducted airstrikes on military targets in the Houthi-controlled port city of Hodeidah, Yemen. The IDF confirmed that their fighter jets targeted a fuel depot and other military sites, stating this operation was in retaliation for recent Houthi attacks against Israel.
This marked the first Israeli military action on Yemeni territory since the Israel-Hamas conflict began in October. On July 19, Houthi rebels launched four drones and a ballistic missile towards Tel Aviv, resulting in one civilian death and minor injuries to eight others.
The assault included an Iranian-origin Sammad-3 drone, modified for extended range and launched from Yemen, as per IDF Spokesman Daniel Hagari.
In response, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant emphasized Israel’s stance on retaliating against any entities inflicting harm or conducting terrorist acts against the nation.
Foreign Minister Israel Katz further warned israIran, accusing it of supporting, training, and funding the Houthi group as part of its regional terror network targeting Israel.
Katz urged the international community to impose stricter sanctions on Iran, stressing the necessity to confront Iran’s actions immediately.
Houthi spokesman Mohammed Abdulsalam condemned the Israeli airstrikes, claiming they targeted civilian facilities, oil tanks, and a power station in Hodeidah, aggravating the suffering of the Yemeni people.
He implied that the strikes were intended to pressure Yemen into ceasing its support for Gaza.
