iPhone SE 4: BOE’s OLED Screen Beats Samsung’s Bid
iPhone SE 4:Negotiations and Supplier Dropouts
iPhone SE 4, Apple’s anticipated fourth-generation ‘Special Edition’ smartphone, is rumored to feature an OLED screen manufactured by a Chinese firm, according to a recent report. The report suggests that Apple has been in negotiations regarding the cost of the display with multiple suppliers, with one dropping out due to pricing concerns.
iPhone SE 4:BOE Emerges as Key Supplier
A report from ZDNet Korea, citing industry sources, reveals that Chinese electronic component manufacturer BOE (Jingdongfang) has secured the bid to manufacture the OLED screen for the speculated iPhone SE 4. Initially considering bids from Samsung, BOE, and Tianma, Apple appears to have selected BOE as the primary supplier, following Samsung’s withdrawal from the bidding process over feasibility issues.
iPhone SE 4:Technical Requirements and Production Readiness
While Samsung Display quoted a higher price range for each display unit, Chinese companies, including BOE, proposed a lower cost. Apple’s negotiation strategy reportedly led to Samsung ending discussions in March. Among the Chinese suppliers, BOE emerges as the sole capable entity ready to meet Apple’s technical specifications for the iPhone SE 4 display. Meanwhile, Tianma has encountered challenges in fulfilling Apple’s requirements, potentially delaying the rumored 2025 debut of the iPhone SE 4.
Reports indicate that the iPhone SE 4 may adopt a design akin to the iPhone 14, incorporating features such as Face ID. Despite the absence of official confirmation from Apple regarding the launch of a new iPhone SE model, speculation continues to mount, fueled by insights into the device’s potential specifications and supplier dynamics.
