Innovative QR Ticket Delivery System via WhatsApp Launched by Chennai Metro Rail
As part of its green environment and digital initiatives, Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has introduced a new system for delivering QR tickets through WhatsApp at metro station ticket counters. Initially implemented at Koyambedu and Airport stations, this feature has now been extended to all 41 stations due to positive passenger response. Passengers can provide their mobile numbers at the counter, and the ticket will be securely delivered through WhatsApp, promoting both data privacy and digital transactions.
Secure and Convenient: Passenger-Friendly Ticketing
Inaugurated by MA Siddique, Managing Director of CMRL, this innovative ticketing system aims to enhance passenger convenience and contribute to a green environment. The secure transaction ensures that passenger mobile numbers are not stored in the CMRL system, aligning with data privacy standards.
Green Environment and Digital Initiatives: CMRL’s Holistic Approach
CMRL sees this initiative as part of its broader effort to promote a green environment and digital initiatives. Previous introductions include electronic QR scanning, QR tickets through mobile apps, and ticketing through third-party platforms like WhatsApp, Paytm, and PhonePe. The holistic approach underscores CMRL’s commitment to sustainable practices and technological advancements in public transportation.
