India Reaffirms Support for Palestinian Statehood and Peace
On the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, India’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Ruchira Kamboj, emphasized India’s enduring support for the Palestinian cause and a two-state solution. Addressing the United Nations General Assembly, Kamboj reiterated India’s long-standing relationship with the Palestinian people, rooted in historical and people-to-people ties. She highlighted India’s zero-tolerance approach to terrorism and its commitment to observing international humanitarian law.
Condemnation of Violence and Humanitarian Assistance
Kamboj condemned the civilian deaths in the region, deeming them unacceptable and called for all parties to exercise utmost responsibility in addressing the humanitarian crisis. She urged the international community for collective efforts leading to de-escalation and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Palestine. Kamboj also mentioned India’s contribution of 70 tonnes of humanitarian goods, including medical supplies, to Palestine.
Diplomatic Efforts and Vision for Peace
India’s envoy underscored the diplomatic efforts by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar with regional and international leaders. Their consistent message has been to prevent escalation, ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid, and work towards restoring peace and stability. Kamboj called for the immediate and unconditional release of hostages held in Gaza and stressed India’s support for a negotiated two-state solution as a path to a sovereign, independent Palestine existing peacefully alongside Israel. She concluded by reaffirming India’s commitment to a just, peaceful, and lasting solution to the Israel-Palestine issue.
