India Expands Digital Cooperation Globally through MoUs with Papua New Guinea, France, and Trinidad and Tobago
In a significant move to bolster digital cooperation, the Union Cabinet has approved three separate Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Papua New Guinea, France, and Trinidad and Tobago in the field of digital technologies.
Strengthening Digital Bonds with France
The MoU with France aims to promote closer cooperation and the exchange of information concerning digital technologies. Both nations have committed to supporting each other’s goals of enhancing access to digital technology within their respective territories. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of the Republic of India and the Ministry of Economy, Finance, and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty of the French Republic will collaborate to foster bilateral cooperation in digital technologies, encompassing both government-to-government (G2G) and business-to-business (B2B) domains. This collaboration is expected to yield employment opportunities within the IT sector, as stated in the official announcement.
Avenues for Digital Transformation with Papua New Guinea
Additionally, the Union Cabinet approved an MoU that was initially signed on July 28 between the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) and the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology of Papua New Guinea. This agreement aims to share successful digital solutions that have been implemented at a population scale to facilitate digital transformation. It paves the way for closer cooperation and the exchange of experiences and technology-based solutions, including India Stack, between the two nations. The MoU is set to be effective from the date of its signing and will remain in force for a period of three years.
India Stack Initiative Expands to Trinidad and Tobago
The cabinet has also approved a similar agreement to promote India Stack between Meity and the Ministry of Digital Transformation Technology of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. This agreement, too, will be valid for three years.
These MoUs demonstrate India’s commitment to promoting international collaboration in the emerging and frontier areas of information technology, providing innovative digital solutions to other countries, and strengthening India’s global presence in the digital landscape.
