    External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar announced several new initiatives to strengthen the India-Australia comprehensive strategic partnership. This includes the opening of new consulates, direct flight connections, and significant advancements in the education sector.

    Expansion in Consulates and Education

    The key highlights of the India-Australia Foreign Ministers’ Framework Dialogue were the establishment of new Consulates General in Bengaluru and Brisbane by Australia and India, respectively. Additionally, the first Australian university campuses will open in India, alongside an agreement on mutual recognition of educational qualifications.

    Bilateral Discussions and Progress Review

    EAM Jaishankar and his Australian counterpart Penny Wong held the 14th Foreign Minister’s Framework Dialogue, where they reviewed bilateral ties and progress on various initiatives. The recent reciprocal visits of the Prime Ministers of India and Australia underscored the growing engagement between the two nations.

    Focus on Regional Security and Indo-Pacific Growth

    The ministers discussed building more trusted, reliable, and resilient supply chains in the Indo-Pacific region. They also shared a commitment to a free, open, inclusive, and rules-based Indo-Pacific region. The dialogue extended to global issues, including the situation in West Asia and the Middle East, showcasing a comprehensive approach to geopolitical dynamics.
