India and UAE to Conduct Joint Military Exercise Desert Cyclone 2024
The upcoming joint military exercise ‘Desert Cyclone 2024’ between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is scheduled to be conducted from January 2 to January 15 in Rajasthan. This collaborative drill aims to significantly improve interoperability between the armed forces by sharing and adopting best practices in urban operations.
Expressing the anticipation for this inaugural edition, the Indian Army officially announced the exercise on social media, highlighting its goal to enhance cooperation and learning between the two nations. The exercise aims to focus on refining strategies and tactics in urban warfare scenarios.
The relationship between India and the UAE is rooted in deep cultural, religious, and economic connections that have evolved over millennia. Both countries have identified several areas for bilateral cooperation in defense, including joint military exercises, production and development of defense equipment, exchange of strategic information, and cooperation in technical areas such as Intermediate Jet Trainer.
Over the years, both nations have witnessed a strengthening of their defense ties, particularly in the domains of defense training and the supply of defense inventory. Notably, the first-ever India-UAE Joint Air Forces exercise took place in September 2008 at the Al-Dhafra base in Abu Dhabi, marking a significant step in bilateral defense cooperation.
India’s participation in events like the biennial International Defence Exhibition (IDEX) in Abu Dhabi has further contributed to fostering these defense relations, showcasing its commitment to collaborative efforts and sharing expertise in defense-related matters.
The ‘Desert Cyclone 2024’ joint military exercise stands as a testament to the growing cooperation and mutual efforts between India and the UAE in strengthening their defense capabilities and fostering deeper ties in the realm of national security.
