India and Brazil Hold Inaugural 2+2 Dialogue
India and Brazil convened their inaugural 2+2 Political and Military Dialogue in New Delhi, a significant step in strengthening bilateral ties, announced by the Ministry of External Affairs.
Key Players in the Dialogue
Led by Additional Secretary (LAC) GV Srinivas and Joint Secretary (IC) Vishwesh Negi from the Indian side, and Director Marcelo Camara and Rear Admiral Fernando de Luca Marques de Oliviera from Brazil, the dialogue was hailed as an energizing moment in the strategic partnership between the two nations.
Wide-ranging Discussions on Bilateral and Global Issues
Discussions during the dialogue encompassed various critical areas including defence, space, energy, technology, and counter-terrorism, reflecting the depth and breadth of the relationship between India and Brazil. Both sides also exchanged views on regional, multilateral, and other issues of mutual interest, underscoring the comprehensive nature of the engagement.
The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted the warm and cordial bilateral relationship between India and Brazil, emphasizing their shared commitment to advancing mutual interests and cooperation on the global stage.
Upcoming G20 Summit in Brazil
The upcoming 2024 G20 Rio de Janeiro summit, to be chaired by Brazil, holds significance in the context of global governance and cooperation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed confidence in Brazil’s human-centric approach to the G20 Presidency and stressed the importance of collective action among G20 members for global peace and stability, echoing the spirit of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (the world is one family).
