The home of Satish Kumar, the president of Lakshmi Narayan Mandir, a Hindu temple in Surrey, Canada, was attacked by unknown gunmen on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.

The police said that no one was hurt, but the house had bullet holes. The motive of the attack is still unclear, and the police are looking for witnesses and evidence.

The incident has raised concerns among the Hindu community in Canada, as it follows a series of threats and vandalism against Hindu temples by pro-Khalistan elements.

In November, a video showed Khalistan supporters saying they wanted to create trouble at the Lakshmi Narayan Mandir. In August, a Hindu temple was defaced with Khalistan referendum posters.

In April, another Hindu temple was spray-painted with anti-India slogans. In February and January, two more Hindu temples were targeted with anti-India graffiti.

The Hindu community has condemned the attacks and called for protection from the

authorities. Chandra Arya, an India-origin Canadian MP, said that hate crimes are being committed against Hindu-Canadians and that Hindu temples have been attacked many times in the last few years.
