Haryana CBI Court sentences 4 to death, fines Rs 8.2 lakh in double murder, gang rape case
The Trial Court of Ld Special Judge for CBI Cases, Panchkula, Haryana, today sentenced four accused to death with a combined fine of Rs 8.20 lakh in a case related to the double murder, gang rape and dacoity which took place in Nuh Mewat district, an official release said on Saturday.
According to the national probe agency, the accused are Hemat Chouhan alias Dharmu alias Rahul, Ayan Chauhan alias Munna alias Lucky, and Vinay alias Lambu, alias Tully and Jai Bhagwan.The heinous crime took place on the intervening night of August 24 and 25, 2016 in Village-Dingerhedi, District Nuh Mewat, Haryana.
“Subsequently, FIR No. 247, dated August 25, 2016, was registered in PS-Tauru, District Nuh, Haryana, under Section 459, 460, 376-D, 396, 397 of IPC, Section 6 of the POCSO Act, 2012 and Section 25, 54, 59 of Arms Act, 1959 alleging that a group of 04/05 persons entered the house of the victim during midnight and attacked victims in their house with a lath iron road and a hand pistol. They gang raped two ladies including one minor girl, at their home and thereafter looted ornaments, cash from their possession.
Due to the attack, one of the victims, along with his wife died and others received serious injuries,” the agency said.”Thereafter, on the request of the State Government of Haryana, CBI took over the investigation and after conducting a scientific investigation, CBI led two supplementary charge sheets, including against the convicted accused, on January 24, 2018 and on November 29, 2019,” it added.
CBI collected scientific evidence like DNA profiling, fingerprint matching, etc. The Ld. Court framed the charges on March 15, 2021, against the accused person charge sheeted by Haryana Police as well as by CBI.”On April 10, 2024, the Ld Trial Court convicted the aforementioned four accused persons under Section 1208, 302, 307, 376-D, 323, 459, and 460 IPC, and under Section 6 of the POSCO Act 2012 and fixed later dates for the pronouncement of the sentence,” the agency said.Detailed arguments were put forth on behalf of the CBI, praying for maximum punishment for the convicts.
