Handwara Police Solve Facebook Cheating Case Arrest 3 Accused

Handwara, July 20: Police in Handwara have resolved a Facebook cheating case, arresting three individuals involved in the crime.The investigation began when Police Station Vilgam received an application about cheating on Facebook through a honey trap scheme to extort money.
Acting on the complaint, a case (FIR No. 43/2024) was registered under relevant sections of the law, and the investigation was promptly initiated.
During the investigation, three individuals were apprehended for creating a fake Facebook account and impersonating a girl to deceive people.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Firdous Ah Tantray, son of Mohd Shafi Tantray; Danish Ah Bhat, son of Gh. Mohd Bhat; and Aaliyan Ah Bhat, son of Ashiq Hussain Bhat. All are residents of Dohama Vilgam.
These individuals lured unsuspecting victims into the trap and extorted money from them. The accused have been taken into custody, and their mobile phones, used to commit the crime, have been seized.
The investigation is ongoing to uncover more details about their activities and possible additional victims.Police Handwara has urged the general public to remain vigilant against such fraudsters on social media platforms.
People are advised not to share personal information with unknown individuals and to report any suspicious activities to the authorities immediately.
