Gunfight breaks out between militants and security forces in Kishtwar district

SRINAGAR: A gunfight has erupted between militants and security forces in the Chattru area of Kishtwar district on Friday.

A senior police officer said hat a team of police and security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Chattru area following a specific intelligence input.

As the joint team approached the suspected location, militants opened fire, triggering an encounter, the officer added.

At the time of this report, intermittent exchange of fire was still ongoing. (GNS)
