A Bride’s Disappointment: Wedding Reception Called Off
In an unexpected turn of events, a groom from Awantipora is now facing legal consequences for allegedly evading his own wedding reception. The incident has left the bride and her family in a state of shock and disappointment.
Complaint Leads to Legal Action
On 19th September 2023, the Awantipora Police Station received a formal written complaint from an aggrieved bride, whose identity is being withheld for privacy reasons. The complaint named Fayaz Ahmad Dar and his father, Mohammad Shaban Dar, both residents of Kandizal Awantipora, as the accused. The complainant stated that her wedding reception had been scheduled for 16th September 2023, following the Nikah ceremony. All the necessary arrangements had been meticulously put in place to welcome the groom and his wedding procession. However, to everyone’s astonishment, the groom chose to call off the reception at the eleventh hour, claiming that he had run away and refused to attend the event, effectively nullifying the Nikah ceremony conducted earlier.
Legal Action Taken
In response to the bride’s distressing complaint, the Awantipora Police initiated legal proceedings. They registered a First Information Report (FIR) under sections 420 and 498(A) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against both the groom, Fayaz Ahmad Dar, and his father, Mohammad Shaban Dar. Subsequently, the police arrested both individuals.
The Road Ahead
The investigation into this peculiar case is ongoing, and the authorities are determined to uncover the truth behind the groom’s abrupt decision to evade the wedding reception. The bride and her family eagerly await justice, hoping for a resolution that can bring closure to this unfortunate incident.
