German Ambassador Celebrates Strong India-Germany Ties
During the German National Day celebrations in Delhi, German Ambassador to India, Philipp Ackermann, highlighted the robust relationship between India and Germany. He commended the past year, stating that it had been “very good for the ties between the two countries” and expressed confidence that the upcoming year would be even more remarkable. The event marked the 33rd anniversary of German Unity Day, which is Germany’s national day.
Ambassador Ackermann showcased his Hindi speaking skills as he conveyed his optimism for the future of India-Germany relations. He emphasized that there was no need for a lengthy speech on this occasion, and the festivities continued with enthusiastic dancing to lively music.
Union Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi also praised the strong ties between India and Germany. She noted the close collaboration between the two nations, mentioning the visits of German premiers to India in 2022 and 2023 during the G20 Summit, along with their strong relationship with PM Modi.
Furthermore, the minister highlighted the various cooperation agreements signed between German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and PM Modi, acknowledging the significance of their partnership as the fourth and fifth largest economies in the world.
In May of the same year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, where they reviewed bilateral relations and discussed regional developments and global challenges. Germany’s support for the India-EU trade and investment agreements, as well as India’s G20 Presidency, were among the key topics of discussion.
India and Germany’s connection extends beyond diplomatic engagements. In a recent episode of his monthly radio broadcast ‘Mann Ki Baat,’ PM Modi appreciated a German national, Cassandra Mae Spittmann, for her passion for Indian music and culture. He highlighted her beautiful rendition of Indian songs and her deep attachment to Indian culture, even though she had never visited India.
Cassandra Mae’s passion for Indian music and her exceptional talent, despite being visually impaired since birth, served as an inspiring example of the global appeal of Indian culture. PM Modi commended her dedication and her ability to sing in various Indian languages, showcasing her deep love for the country’s rich heritage.
