GDC Kilhotran Celebrates 10th International Yoga Day 2024

The Department of Physical Education and Sports at Government Degree College Kilhotran, in collaboration with the Red Ribbon Club and NSS units, organized a yoga session on campus to mark the 10th International Yoga Day. The event followed the theme “Yoga for Self and Society.”

Under the guidance of Dr. Javed Iqbal Zargar, the college principal, the session was conducted by Prof. Zakir Ali, the college’s Physical Training Instructor. The session began with warm-up asanas (suksham vayayamas), followed by a series of asanas, Surya Namaskar, and pranayama exercises, adhering to the Common Yoga Protocol. Prof. Zakir Ali emphasized the benefits of each posture and breathing technique, encouraging participants to integrate yoga into their daily routines for a healthier, more successful lifestyle.

In his presidential address, Dr. Zargar highlighted the importance of adopting a yogic way of life for personal growth and nation-building. The event saw enthusiastic participation from the entire college community, including teaching and non-teaching staff, NSS volunteers, and students.

The session concluded with refreshments for all attendees. The event was organized and coordinated by Prof. Zain Batt, Convenor of the Red Ribbon Club and Head of the Political Science Department.
