    On August 15, 2024, GDC Bhaderwah marked the 78th Independence Day with fervor and unity. The celebrations were led by Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal of GDC Bhaderwah, who served as the Chief Guest, with Prof. Shakeel Ahmed Khanday as the Guest of Honour.

    The event began with the flag hoisting ceremony conducted by Dr. Kotwal, followed by the national anthem. The cadets of the 10 J&K Battalion NCC Bhaderwah, led by Cadet Ashish Sharma and supervised by Lt. (Dr.) Rajni Kumari, executed a disciplined march past.

    NSS volunteers, under the guidance of Prof. Mohd Yaseen Sirwal, displayed rhythmic skills, adding to the patriotic spirit of the day.

    Dr. Kotwal addressed the gathering, urging students and faculty to honor the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and to uphold the ideals of democracy, freedom, and unity. He encouraged everyone to contribute to the nation’s development.

    A cultural program followed, featuring dance, patriotic songs, skits, and speeches that celebrated India’s rich cultural diversity. The performances, organized by Prof. Malti Rajput and Dr. Rajni Kumari, captivated the audience.

    In the days leading up to Independence Day, GDC Bhaderwah hosted various competitive events, including a painting competition, essay writing on unsung heroes of India’s independence, and a quiz contest.

    These activities, supervised by Dr. Kotwal and supported by faculty members, fostered a spirit of patriotism and intellectual engagement among students.

    The day concluded with a prize distribution ceremony recognizing the efforts of participants, and a formal vote of thanks by Prof. Anuradha Sharma.

    The entire event was successfully managed by Lt. (Dr.) Rajni Kumari and her team.
